i study in my 9th standard that the great king Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagara empire would never wear his clothes a second time. this is news for me. i often sit reflecting on how it would be if i were to do the same thing; on how i would have to go to shop each and everyday.
what is the difference between festival days and normal days if he wears new new clothes everyday!, i think.
what would happen to the new clothes which he would buy after the day he wears it? would it be worn by somebody else? or would it be auctioned. who will buy it if there is an auction each and everyday. would they burn it away so that only the king wears those costly clothes? no, may not be. people weren't so foolish anyway.
8 years later...
anil(name changed) does a krishnadevaraya buy throwing his undies after use. use and throw phenomena is catching up, u see.
but here, i know the reason. he doesn't know to wash clothes!!
Claimer: All of the aforementioned FACTS are mostly true. True-life resemblance of this story in any form may please be intimated to the owner of the blog as it would strengthen further the author's feeling that 'history repeats itself'.
